Wild Flowers

As some of you know, I am a bit of a plant fanatic and so I just have to post a blog to show you some of the most wonderful wildflowers there are out here! For those of you who aren't into flowers - it's ok. You can skip this one if you want!

A bunch picked along the rail road tracks to Sarlat

Stalks nesting on rooftops everywhere! They are a protected species
in Spain. They especially prefer to nest on top of cathedrals.

So everywhere on the roadsides in the whole of Europe so far, there are myriads of colours of all sorts - from deep purple to blue, yellows, oranges, greens and whites of all shades. There are plants growing wild here that I've seen being sold in plant shops in NZ for quite a pretty sum! The local council seem to encourage their growth and spread too, as any place they can grow they are not prohibited. (No round-up out here!)

My favourite place so far to collect a bunch (we usually have at least one collection in a cup in the campervan) has been where we stayed for a rest at that most beautiful campsite on the Dordogne river. We biked to Sarlat one day along an old train track and through a dense forest. The variety of flowers there was stunning.

Red poppies grew more and more numerous the further south we went

I noticed these little flowers climbing over many things.
The sort of look like a cucumber plant

This one is a fancy type of Plantain

Tiny little white flowers growing from a plant like a miniature echinacea.

Wild sage I think. This was very prolific in the south of France.

A beautiful silvery-white thistle. It was growing very tall.

This one was pale yellow and growing out of the cracks of
a 12th century castle in Burgos.

A common sight in Spain. Many empty lots covered with flowers with big apartments close by.

Look at these little seeds! I think we do have these clover type plants in NZ though. But aren't they cool!

The rolling fields of wheat we were driving by in spain.

My own little flower.
