We landed safe and sound on Thursday after a movie feast and got through the slow slog of customs to be greeted by a lovely 27 degrees celsius and a clear blue sky.
Outside the airport we loaded all our gear onto the double-decker bus with wifi on it (!) that took us through the city to the train station.
Here we met up with my high-school friend Bec who I haven't seen for a few years and she showed us around the beautiful city of Melbourne. Such a gorgeous city! It was absolutely teeming with people - the first sea of humanity my children have ever really seen. Bec knew how to expertly manouver her way through everyone and got us onto one of the cities free trams.
We made our way to the river and had takeaways on a little jetty as the sun went down. It was wonderful to be part of that big city for the day and to spend those hours with my friend too. Thanks Bec for making the time to hang out with us! Was very special.

It was so, so good to see you all! How amazing was the view of the river and city buildings at dusk, all pink and blue! I’m so glad we got those few hours to see each other.

Sounds like fun! I love Melbourne, it's a beautiful city. Sort of like Wellington but much bigger and busier! Lovely that you got to spend time with Bec. XX
