Cathedrals, Bikes and Bossche Bollen

We've parked our new camper at Josh's friends -Daniel and Glencora's house. They live in Den Bosch which is still in the south of the Netherlands- about 3/4 of an hour from where we were in Breda.
They live in a new building area and they have a beautiful home. Very modern and stylish.
Our camper at Daniel's place. We're about the head out for a ride to
the town centre.

Our campervan is gradually getting kitted out with what we need. Josh and I had our first night in there on our wee bed which was very cramped but we can modify it- thank goodness!

Today we went for our first bike ride together with Daniel as our guide. We went to the old city of Den Bosch which is very beautiful with it's ancient buildings which date back to the 13th century. There were many people out and about on bikes - from young people in their stylish work outfits to very old people (some of whom were overtaking me on the bike path!). It felt so monumental heading out on our bikes - we really are in Holland!
I noticed everyone looked so fashionable, and the cars so tiny, cute and modern (I haven't seen one ute since I've been here!). And every restaurant was full with people dining.

We parked our bikes in among the hundreds of others on the street and walked through the old buildings with are filled with stylish and elegant shops. Every shop was tempting me in.
In the center was a magnificent catholic cathedral (Saint John's) which we walked through and were in time to watch a mass in procedure. I'm quite keen to hear the choir singing on Sunday morning.

We stopped into a sweet shop that was filled floor to ceiling with a vast collection of old-fashioned sweets. And traditional dutch licorice! Everyone was in heaven choosing a selection of treats.

This isn't us just being weird but is a tradition for licorice eating!

For dessert tonight Daniel bought us a local delicacy - Bossche Bollen - which are sort of like an eclaire but bigger and round with great flavour.

The cathedral has had some renovations done on it in the past
few years. They even modernized one of the statues so that it
is a woman angel talking on her cellphone!
